Coartem 20/120 tablets is a fixed combination of arthemether and lumefrantine, which acts as blood schizontocide. It is indicated for the treatment including stand-by emergency treatment of adults, children and infants with acute, uncomplicated infections due to plasmodium falciparum or mixed infections including P. falciparum. it is recommended for malaria infections acquired in areas where the parasites may be resistant to other anitmalarias.
Ingredient
Coartem 20/120 tablet contains arthemether and lumefrantine. Each tablet contains 20mg arthemether and 120mg lumefrantine.
Direction for Use
In children weighing 5kg to less than 35kg and 12 years of age or less: A six-dose regimen is recommended with 1 to 3 tablets per dose depending on body weight.
5 < 15kg bodyweight: One tablet at the time of initial diagnosis, i tablet again after 8 hours and then 1 tablet twice daily (morning and evening) on each of the following two days (total course comprises 6 tablets).
15 < 25kg bodyweight: Two tablets as a single dose at the time of initial diagnosis, 2 tablets again after 8 hours and then 2 tablets twice daily (morning and evenin) on each of the following two days (total course comprises 12 tablets).
25 < 35kg bodyweight: Three tablets as a single dose at the time of initial diagnosis, 3 tablets again twice daily (morning and evening) on each of the following two days (total course comprises 18 tablets).
In adults and children weighing 35kg and above or more than 12 years: A standard 3 days treatment with total of 6 doses is recommended as follows. Four tablets as a single dose at the time of initial diagnosis, again 4 tablets after 8 hours and then 4 tablets twice daily (morning and evening) on each of the following two days (total course comprises 24 tablets)

Never use Coartem after the expiry date, store dry cool place, keep away from the reach of children and ensure you read product labelling and follow your doctor's instruction
