Fansidar injection is indicated for the treatment of acute, uncomplicated P. falciparum malaria for those patients in whom chloroquine resistance is suspected
Ingredient
Fansidar is an antimalarial agent, each ampoule of 2.5ml containing 500 mg N1-(5,6-dimethoxy-4-pyrimidinyl) sulfanilamide (sulfadoxine) and 25 mg 2,4-diamino-5-(p-chlorophenyl)-6-ethylpyrimidine (pyrimethamine).
Caution
Carefully read product label, and ensure you follow strictly on your doctor’s advice. Fansidar should not be given to infants less than 2 months of age because of inadequate development of the glucuronide-forming enzyme system.
