Imodium Syrup 100ml is indicated for the treatment of sudden short-lived (acute) attacks of diarrhoea in adults and children over 4 years. And also for the treatment of long-lasting (chronic) diarrhoea in adults. Imodium syrup contains loperamide hydrochloride. It belongs to a group of medicines which helps reduce diarrhoea by slowing down an overactive bowel. It also helps the body to absorb more water and salts from the bowel.
Ingredient
Each 5ml contains loperamide hydrochloride 1mg. It also contains sdium saccharin, methyl parahydroxy benzoate (E218), propyl paeahydroxybenzoate (E216). Cochineal red A (E124), alcohol, raspberry and redcurrant flavours.
Direction for Use
Take medicine orally. Adults should take four 5ml doses of the syrup at once. After which you should take two 5ml doses after each episode of diarrhoea. You can take this syrup for upto five days. Do not take more than sixteen 5ml doses in any 24 hour period. Children above 9years should take two 5ml doses of syrup 4 times daily until diarrhoea is controlled. Children between the ages of 4 and 8years should take one 5ml dose 3 to 4 times daily until diarrhoea is controlled. Ensure you speak to a pharmacist or your doctor before administering this medicine
Caution
Do not use if you are allergic to the ingredients of Imodium Syrup. If you are having a flare of ulcerative colitis. If you are constipated or your stomach appears swollen. If you are pregnant speak to your doctor before taking Imodium. Do not take Imodium if you are breastfeeding
