Zithromax is an antibiotic, also known as a macrolide antibiotic. It prevents the growth of bacteria that cause infections such as ear infections, respiratory infections, skin infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. This drug is not effective in the treatment of viral infections like colds and flu. If your doctor has prescribed Zithromax, do not take more than directed. Overuse of this drug can decrease its efficacy.
Ingredient
ZITHROMAX tablets contain the active ingredient azithromycin, an azalide, a subclass of macrolide antibiotics, for oral administration. Each Zithromax tablet contains 250mg of azithromycin.
Direction
Zithromax is usually taken once daily. You do not have to take the tablet with food, but if your stomach gets upset, rather eat something before you take a dose. Make sure that you take your dose at the same time every day. This will ensure that your system receives a constant supply of the medication, and the drug will work better. You must take the full course of Zithromax. You might feel better after a few days but you must not stop or reduce your doses. This is very important because if you stop, the bacteria can continue growing and you will be at risk of a relapse. If you have to use an antacid during your treatment with Zithromax, take the antacid 2 hours after your dose of Zithromax. If you miss a dose of Zithromax, it is better to ignore it. Continue with your usual schedule. Don’t double up on any dose.
